Tea with my grandparents

Image
As I reflect on the past I remember the fond moments shared with my grandparents. The little chats about life and future and some funny moments with my granddad when he use to perform spontaneous magic tricks on the balcony of their home in Overport Durban.  Now as I, in particular, take a moment break from work, sipping on a hot cup of five rose tea, I began to reminisce the days when I use to visit my grandparents. So fragile and carm with warm hugs and smiles. There is nothing better than paying a visit to my grandparents.  As I step into home that shared so many memories, the kettle switch went on and the crackling noise of the biscuit packet been open. So happy to see me and the rest of the family members. Any sort of spoils that could be given at that moment was so precious. The tea was brought to the lounge table and the sweet conversations use to begin, simple catch-ups were all that made my grandparent's hearts happy. Seeing our faces knowing that we were ok... Is wha...

Balance Being Doing and Living

Image
Balance is what we all need, what most seek, and more argue against not just work-life balance, I mean being and doing balance,  a balance between making it happen and letting it happen some argue, you must work hard and take action to achieve anything in life and they are right in a way.  Action is needed and hard work does have its place. If you wish to succeed in accomplishing things in this world. However, the sacrifice should never be your LIFE.  Your life quality your presence your happiness. Overworking leads to anxieties and stress, which usually leads to poor decisions making, quality work is achieved when you are present, when you love what you do, you can still work hard, but your hard work should come from a state of wanting to do the work not from having to do it because you have so much on your plate, each action you perform should be conscious and present. If you have too much on your plate, you are always thinking about another task while performing the cu...

Departed SOULS

Image
Every religion has a different term when it is a passing away of a family member. We born and brought up into families and religion, and as the journey passes by a family member that is very close passes on. We miss them, we cry for them and most importantly they leave a gap in our lives.  How does one handle this, well everyone has their own way... of letting go. It is said to believe that when a person/family member passes on they soul travels for days until it is laid to rest. We also believe that there is always a journey after death. No matter what we believe in and the journey everyone lives, its all very different.   When you come to think of it for a second.. we never know how long we have on this earth, or what will the future hold it is certainly a maze that we go through.  How you, or what you make out of yourself is important. the legacy you leave behind is also important.  So we come and go on this earth, we meet so many people, the good and the bad...

Life as it is - Shemara Ramnarain

Image
Life as it is... I sometimes feel I lead a boring life, but it's a busy life. I sometimes feel run down, I sometimes feel I am on a roller coaster. Nobody said life would be easy.  Working from home, having flexible hours, makes you lazy.  I have been at home now for around 9 months, and it was not only the lockdown but working from my home office. This has changed my routine after many years. The time, I get up, the time I have breakfast, the time I actually walk into the office. What is worst of all this there is no one to push me...like my mom use to do ... Yes, I know what you about to say that we are all spoilt, or rather I was very spoilt. But I guess that's the way all of us grew up, being motivated by our parents to do the task even tho we did not like it. We did complain but we still had to do the task. I guess we should really appreciate what we had and the lives we lived. Not everybody had the best of lives, but hey! look on the bright side we made the best of...

Image
We all love home, but when being a daughter, you get married leave your home and move into your husband"s home. Sometimes you stay with the in-laws and some stay on their own. Either way surviving the in-law wars needs to be contained.  Married or n ot married this is important. Marriage is never a bed of roses especially when the honeymoon phase is over. Then reality just kicked in...and then you ask yourself "Is this what I signed up for??"... hahaha. You are now in it, and how do you make this work? Here are my Eight DOs and DONTs for surviving the in-law wars #1  DO prioritize Your partner and your marriage are your top priority. Protect your marriage. #2 DO set boundaries You and your spouse must clearly define the boundaries of your marriage. This means deciding who comes in, when, and under what circumstances.  You promised to forsake all others.  #3 DO figure out holidays upfront As early as possible, decide how you want to spend holidays and other important ...

Vision of Life

Image
When you have a clear vision for your life, then mostly, this makes it simpler to set objectives for yourself. Then it is easier to determine which steps are necessary to make those things come true. Now you have to stay on track and persist until your goals have been reached. However, an inspiring and worthwhile vision can be a tremendous motivation. Planning Early One way to stay motivated every day is to understand what has to be done and also exactly why it has to be done. It is important to understand the motivation behind the things which you are doing. However, you will never be fully efficient unless you have a well-devised plan, which will specify which things have to be done and when they have to be done. You see, when you plan ahead, it will provide you with an estimate of how much time is going to be taken up by the activities which have been planned. It will also tell you how much time is left unutilized and can then be used for something else. This is an excel...

Winter Chills

Image
As the sun sets every afternoon in Johannesburg, the chills run down my spine. as this is the first bites of winter cold that I am about to experience in a new city Johannesburg.  I feel excited tho I must admit, with the winter warmers been purchased and in preparations I begin cleaning the closet and not forgetting the thoughts. O yeah! very important . Because we have 4 seasons in a year, I take much advantage of it in many ways. The exciting part is changing your wardrobe, then all the delicious soups that are prepared and not forgetting the fireplace, the place that as the most warmth and relaxation. Brrrrr    While we sail through the year, of seasons we should also make changes to the way of living, the cycle, and the routine. Change is good, but how you improve your changes is even better.  I can't always live this rat race, of a busy life, and not have time for friends and family, so I have made it my duty that every day I will call a friend or ...
